In January, Senior Care Authority leaders from across the United States gathered in New Orleans for the highly anticipated 2024 Alzheimer's Association Community Leaders Summit. This annual event serves as a powerful platform for collaboration, bringing together passionate minds dedicated to realizing a world free from the devastating impact of Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia.

Cynthia Perthuis, Senior Care Authority franchise owner, Elder Care Strategist, and longstanding Alzheimer's Association volunteer, expressed her gratitude for being part of this impactful summit: "It was a privilege to join our Senior Care Authority colleagues at the annual Leadership Summit to learn how to inspire growth, both with our colleagues and with the general population."

The summit was crafted to inspire attendees and foster a deeper understanding of the Alzheimer's Association's pivotal leadership role in the realms of care, support, advocacy, and research. Attendees engaged in meaningful networking sessions with industry leaders, strategizing innovative approaches to address local community needs and amplify the message of ending Alzheimer’s.

Reflecting on the event, Neil Nagraj, Advisor Senior Living and Care, shared, “I think the most energizing theme, for me, to emerge during this weekend was that we have now entered the dawn of the treatment era. Knowing there is new hope for those with an Alzheimer’s or dementia diagnosis gives new urgency to all that Senior Care Authority does to support the association’s mission."

In the face of the emotional weight of Alzheimer's, it is essential for those working in the field to remain connected to their Why. For Perthuis, her father serves as a powerful inspiration: "My father is my why. He died with Alzheimer’s and I do not want anyone to live that life. It is why I volunteer and fundraise. This summit was an opportunity to get re-energized around my why and the why of hundreds of others who are leading the way in fundraising for the Alzheimer's Association to continue their amazing work with Research, Support, and Education," she shared.

Nagraj echoed the sentiment, emphasizing the profound impact of the stories shared at the summit: "The stories that were shared at the summit were the stories we hear every day from our clients. That’s why SCA is so passionate about this partnership."

If someone you know has Alzheimer’s or you suspect they may be developing a dementia related disease, please reach out to your local Alzheimer’s Association. Together, Let’s End ALZ!
